don't make it a secret... Shout out loud!

Just when I had this nice sarcastic blog post to put up, I get a comment from my friend Shanna at I'm Just Sayin'  (check out her blog) and I realized that putting my frustrations and drama out there for everyone to read is not really the best idea. She said I know you've been through a lot this year. Remember, sometimes we go through trying times, and God allows this to bring us closer to Him. I'm glad your my friend! I love you for you!! Well that right there is enough to warm your heart and to make you feel loved. Thanks Girl, I appreciate you and love you! So.. I quickly deleted the post I had planned and quit shaking my fist in fury. I decided that with that little comment right there, maybe I needed to use this post to tell you about something more important, something bigger.

Recently Shanna and I had the opportunity to go to Secret Church, she had said that at first she thought it was some sort of cult event or worse, I had the same feeling but something told me I needed to check it out... wonder who that was? I bet you can take a guess and get it right. I pulled it up online one day at work and was amazed at what I saw. Immediately I bought tickets not even knowing if she was going to go with me, but it didn't matter to me. I needed to be there. God had a message for me and I wasn't going to miss it.

Taken from the Secret Church site, click over and watch the video when you get time:

When we think of "church" in America, we think of going to meet at a building, singing, praying and hearing a message from a Pastor or teacher. But in many places around the world, "church" meets in a home, an apartment, even in secret. These small groups of Christ-followers often meet for many hours in study, prayer and fellowship, as it is dangerous to travel to "church" and they want to make the most of their time together.

Secret Church is our "house church," where we meet periodically for an intense time of Bible study--lasting 4-6 hours--and prayer for our persecuted brothers and sisters across the globe. This is not for the uncommitted or faint at heart. But if you desire to know God more deeply through His Word, and know His Church more fully around the world, then please join us for Secret Church.

God will use this focused time of study to enrich our knowledge of His Word as we gain understanding of the state of His Church and our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world. The objective of Secret Church is for you to pass along what you learn to others, so that you can make disciples of Christ--both locally and globally.

While we were at the Temple Theater we were thrown into an in depth 6 hour bible study, I had thought that we would be going through the bible book by book, but it was more of a message, like you would hear in worship, just a little more information than usual...you could say. I'm going to share just a little with you for right now... I don't want you to go into overload. I'm not exactly sure what plan he was trying to get across to me, but I'm sure with prayer I will get the answer. Right now its a toss up between becoming a foreign missionary or adopting a child. I know... amazing the things he wants you to hear.

We discussed The Crucifixion, and the Glory of God. The way of Christ is hard to follow and Christians are hated. To be good Christians, we need a solid biblical foundation.

We learned that just as children are adopted into a family, God "adopts" us as his children. God sent his own son that we may know that he is our Heavenly Father. WE are the Children of God!

I had never known just how many Christians were persecuted for their beliefs. It never dawned on me. I know about foreign missions, but I don't guess I ever really knew. We were reminded that the gospel must be proclaimed to all nations. He says in Matthew 28 to  "Go therefore and make deciples of all nations", that means all.. not some. We don't know and can not define who all the nations are, but once all nations are reached, then and only then will Jesus return.

There was so much information... I keep typing and adding and moving around... I have so much to share, but this next part is the most important thing we studied, we talked about salvation.... and that is what I am going to share with you.

Matthew 7:21-23: Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

John 10:25-30: Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”

That's the truth... the whole truth... and nothing but the truth. If you haven't accepted Jesus, if you don't know God... when your standing at the gates of Heaven and you say "But God, I lived a good life"... He will turn you away. Do you want that to happen? It's not going to happen to me... and I don't want it to happen to you. My friend, I know sometimes it's hard to believe with all the hardship and pain in the world that there is a God, but there is this amazing thing that is called faith, I have it, and I have faith in the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, and I have faith that God sent his Son to die so that I can have everlasting life. He died for Me! His love and His mercy is something bigger and more powerful than anything you have ever seen! With faith comes God's love, and with God's love... if you let it in your heart.... comes a life in eternity. No one can ever take that away. Isn't that wonderful?

I just felt the need to share that with you. I don't know who you are and who will read this, but I hope that someone will find it, read it, and their hearts will be a little less hardened. I hope and pray that you will hear him knocking at the door to your heart... and you will let him in.

Acts 16:30-31: "He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”

I think I love Mondays now... why not

This morning I found out that I have won an awesome CD from TheUn-Soccer Mom .... YAY!!!! I can't wait. Maybe after I listen to it, I might just use it as a give away? I think this CD is going to be an awesome witness to God's love and I can't wait to share it.

What did I get you ask?

The Invitation - Narrated by Rick Warren

“The Invitation” is a mixed media CD that includes music and short gospel presentations by pastor and author Rick Warren (The Purpose Driven Life).  The messages are followed up with a relevant song by some of today’s leading CCM artist including Pocket Full of Rocks, Joel Engle, Casting Crowns, and Amy Grant.  Themes from the narration follow the lead of Warren’s popular book.  They include meaning, prayer, God’s promise, and why we are here (our purpose as a follower of Christ).  http://www.alphaomeganews.org/

Hold us Together

I'm on my way to work, listening to KLove like I do every morning.... and I hear these lyrics...

And love will hold us together
Make us a shelter to weather the storm
And I'll be my brother's keeper
So the whole world would know that we're not alone

and then it came over me... such peace. I couldn't get the smile off my face. It was to the point that I went immediately on iTunes as soon as I got to the office to find out what I was listening to and get the album. what I found out was it is Hold Us Together by Matt Maher. He's the same guy that sings Your Grace is Enough and Christ is Risen. Two powerful songs that have helped me in my journey.

Anyhow.... here is one of the videos off of youtube. Go ahead and listen, I'm sure it will make you smile like it did me.

Paul's Prayer

I haven't said much about my faith on my blog, maybe I should. I'm not really sure why I haven't up until recently. I made a post the other day about my faith and just as I figured it would, it was read like I was jumping down someones throat, but it wasn't intended like that at all. It was, however, inspired by several facebook statuses and things that I had recently seen on t.v., I felt like I needed to make a statement about my faith, nothing else.

I said in my post that I'm not the perfect Christian, I know that, and I hope that other people will understand that as well, but I'm trying. I've said things that I shouldn't have, and I can't take them back. I've done things that I will never be able to change. This morning our preacher said The only thing that will change life is being filled with the life of the Holy Spirit and I am trying to do just that. It's hard not to fall back into the person and the life I used to have. Sin takes away the spiritual life.

Which brings me to my point. With so much misery and pain in the world, people need to just be nice to each other. Instead of saying something hurtful, just smile and let it go.

I read Paul's Prayer today and I wanted to share it with you. I pray this for everyone I know.

Ephesians 3:14-21 (New Living Translation)

Paul’s Prayer for Spiritual Growth

14 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father,[a] 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.[b] 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

I hope each and every one of you have a wonderful week.

My faith

Yes, I am a Christian. Yes, I believe that Jesus was sent to save me. Yes, I believe that he rose from the grave. Yes, I believe that one day my God will open up the Heavens and I will spend eternity in paradise.

Yes, I am a Christian... saved by Grace! Can you hear me or do I need to say it louder?

I pray every day, I have something to look forward to. I don't wish harm on my enemies, I love them and pray for them daily. I don't speak unkind words, or trash talk, or pot stir anymore. What is the point in causing harm to other people? How does that reflect on yourself when you treat people that way? But being a Christian, I sometimes fail... Sometimes I let my mouth go on overload. Sometimes I say things that are brutal honesty, I speak my mind... I don't purposely try to hurt someone's feelings. Regardless of what I say, regardless of what I do, there is only one person that has the right to judge me.  I have never once said that I was perfect or that I lead a perfect life. I'm trying. That’s the best that anyone could hope for.

Ephesians 2: 8-10 ~ God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago

At least I believe in something, right? I don't try to push my religion on anyone, but if you ask me... I will tell you. I'm not afraid to tell anyone that I'm learning my faith all over again. I'm not afraid to say that YES, my life has been blessed since I decided to get on the right path. I don't walk around with the bible held high over my head saying I'm the perfect Christian, I'm not perfect by any means... I am very humble in my faith... I have a lot to learn, but at least I'm trying. If you want to judge me for that... if you want to judge me and throw stones at me because I'm a Christian and because I pray, because I apply my faith to my life... go ahead. I'm waiting. It's a natural for people to judge and criticize others, to pick out ways they don't measure up to our standards in one way or another. But the Bible is clear about the role of judgment in our lives: we should focus on our judging eyes on ourselves and our own ample faults, rather than obsessing on the flaws of other people.

Matthew 7: 1-5 ~ Judge not, that ye be not judged.  For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.  And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

2 Thessalonians 3:6 ~ Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

I am proud to be a Christian. In the last few months I have been on a journey to know Christ more, it has strengthened my relationship with my husband, my children, my family and my friends. I have started reading my bible every day, I read a daily devotional, I take my family to church. I even take a piece of scripture from my Bible and apply it to my life everyday. Today for example is: This is what I command you; love one another. ~ John 15:17. I have a new strength in my soul. I'm a stronger person. The thing that I am facing now is people that put down Christians, saying they are weak minded, stupid, etc.

I was saved during my teen years... then went on and lived the party life... but then after everything that happened with my husband and I, we decided that Church was where we really needed to be. We have seen our pastor, we pray together, and we read a daily devotional together. We have made a commitment to each other to support each other. We made a commitment to help the other have a closer walk with God. From my mistakes I learned that this is how I needed to bring my family closer together. This is how we needed to live our life. Please... anyone that wants to fault me for having faith.... let me know, and I will pray for you too. I will pray for your soul. I will pray for you because you haven't been blessed with the things I have been blessed with.
